This was my very first time to change hardware in a computer. The instructions were simple to follow, and I installed it and cloned my old magnetic hard drive. To speed the cloning process, I plugged the new SSD into the mother board and copied the hard drive directly. I left the old hard drive in the desktop, and it is now my backup drive. Now my old Dell XPS-8900 computer is so fast!!! If an old geezer like I can do it, you can too!

First drive failed after 7 months, second failed within seconds of me trying to put any info on it. Crucial support are helpful, but slow to respond and require prompting to get information.

I have as much knowledge of computers as the average novice. Changing the old HHD to an SSD was much easier than I anticipated, and I absolutely love the quickness of the new MX500 4T SSD. The directions and videos walked me through it step-by-step, and now my Dell XPS 8900 runs like a charm. The Acronis cloning software worked perfectly! I also added RAM even though I didn't need it. I don't use any high-demand apps or games. Here is a couple examples of the improvement of my Dell desktop: 1. Boot-up used to take 12 minutes. Now... 55 seconds. 2. Opening Chrome used to take 50 seconds. Now... 3 seconds. 3. Virus scans are much quicker now, although I haven't timed them. 4. Virus updates used to take 1 minute. Now.... 10 seconds. 5. Shut Down used to take 2 minutes. Now... 15 seconds.

It's a good ssd, but hope you don't need support. I put in a request, more than 24 hrs later they email me asking for basic info thay could've been asked for in the request. I get it back and multiple days later I have rma info. No option for cross shipping. Crucial does not seem to realize that a drive going down can make an entire computer unusable for the whole time the drive is unavailable. Really not acceptable care for anything crucial to your computer.

I did not realise I needed an adapter bracket. Lucky Ifixedit had the bracket. Also the Apple clone worked BUT when installed I got a boot error message. I had to do a reinstall of Ventura ((latest OS as I write this.) to get it working. Very good instructions from Crucial and IfixedIt. Since I had to order the bracket, I ordered the temperature sensor as well. Note You must have the adhesive strips and roller tool from IdidIt.
